CPR is the heart of our first aid training programs. Have you ever thought why people in India die on the way to the hospital because of a heart attack? When we face this life threatening situation, it is important to revive the heart. This can only be done if we are trained to give CPR to the given victim before the arrival of the doctor. If CPR is being followed by an AED, it will surely double the chance of survival for the victim. Time is of utmost importance as slight delay may cost someone’s precious life. “Respond and Act Fast”.
In USA & UK, target response time to be taken by an ambulance (911/999) to reach the victim – < 8 min . But In India, target response time to be taken by an ambulance (108) to reach the victim is 20- 35 min for Urban areas and 41 min for rural/village areas.
So seeing the current status of emergency response available in India, we cannot depend upon the medical system alone and we need to prepare ourselves for this eventuality before it’s too late.
